San Diego, CA, 12th January 2024 Entando, an open-source application composition platform (ACP) that enables organizations to build composable cloud-native business applications on Kubernetes, was recognized as a Sample Vendor in two Gartner® reports for 2023: "Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Cloud Computing" and "Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Data and Analytics."

The reports highlight the importance of composable architecture and application composition technology which is expected to be adopted by most enterprises within six to eight years. This is driven by the “increasing demand for enterprise software to improve business agility and the availability of enterprise software applications as catalog components in a composable architecture.”

The catalog of business components should be designed for easy portability across diverse technology ecosystems with seamless integration to enable quick adoption by the early majority of enterprises, according to Gartner’s “Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Cloud Computing” report. The availability of such component catalogs and the modernization of existing applications to support a composable architecture will drive the adoption of application composition technology, promoting business agility. 

The second report regarding Data and Analytics also highlights the importance of composability and modular capabilities that speed up development “exponentially.” It asserts that application composition platforms (ACPs) like Entando are key components of the composable enterprise, offering a range of functionalities, “including development, integration, orchestration, marketplaces, and operations management.” 

Playing an important role across the ACP is the modular functionality of packaged business capabilities (PBCs), representing business services and data. PBCs support the collaboration of business and IT teams, giving rise to Fusion Teams that can streamline the business to application pipeline and increasing the flexibility of the enterprise. Prebuilt components like PBCs, developed and tested independently to align with operational demands, speed up development and further foster agility, analysts said. 

Thus technology investments directed toward business agility need to prioritize application composition solutions as Gartner found that agility was one of the key priorities, along with employee experience, in software investments for organizations operating in a wide variety of sectors, geographic areas, and levels of process maturity.  Given the application composition technologies forecast, it is evident that they will have a significant impact across a wide range of enterprises, and application composition platforms like Entando can provide the tools and environment to support it.
