Accelerating Development, Lowering Runtime Costs, and Streamlining Security and Maintenance for Apps on Kubernetes
Milan, April 26, 2022 - Entando, an open source application composition platform for building modular applications on Kubernetes, today announced the release of Entando version 7.0. This release includes significant updates to focus on security, reliability, and simplified deployment of composable applications. Version 7 also provides a new provisioning mechanism that gives Entando’s low-code editor rapid access to a centralized hub of reusable, pro-code application modules in a Cloud Native environment.
Composable Business: Composable business allows enterprises to rapidly adapt to market shifts and opportunities by allowing rapid recomposition of services and products. Composable applications enable composable business by allowing the applications and infrastructure required to support the business to change quickly, at low cost, and at greatly reduced risk. Application Composition further enhances the current IT adoption of DevOps, hybrid cloud, and Kubernetes. “By 2023, organizations that have adopted a composable approach will outpace competition by 80% in the speed of new feature implementation.” Source: Gartner Top Strategic Technology Trends for 2021 (G00735310)
Entando and Composable Apps: Entando has been strongly focused on the development of this methodology since being listed in Gartner Cool Vendors in Web Computing 2015, now supporting a large set of enterprise and public sector customers, and solution integration partners, who are modernizing applications to the cloud. The approach allows applications to be designed as a set of independently built and maintained, reusable, pro-code modules that are assembled within a low code tool. The method accelerates application development, reduces runtime cost, and streamlines security and maintenance, enabling enterprises to be more resilient to business changes in cloud native public, private, or hybrid cloud environments. Entando 7 additionally provides benefits for customers and partners who implement multiple composed applications, allowing code reuse, standardization, pro-code templating, and the ability to enforce governance at the hub to deliver rapid business value.
The Entando Hub: The new Entando Hub provides a repository for application modules. Modules can be individual application components, collections of components called Packaged Business Capabilities (PBCs), or complete solutions or solution templates. The hub provides a simple interface, or marketplace, to store modules and make them discoverable across multiple development teams and applications. The hub works in conjunction with Git allowing development teams to work in the same way as they do today, but adding a web interface to simplify the interaction between creators of pro-code modules, and application composers assembling applications from the hub. The hub also enables module curators a location to enforce IT governance. The hub is available to developers, enterprises, and solution providers as a SaaS or for private installation on prem on in the cloud.
The Composable Ecosystem: With the release of Entando 7, existing Entando partners and prospective solution partners can now benefit from multiple programs to help them with sales, marketing, demand generation, and engineering in support of the development of customers adopting composable applications. "The Entando Hub and the ability to build applications in composable modules has improved our ability to control governance across multiple applications and app development teams. We are grateful to the team at Entando for their extremely innovative platform and methodologies and their professional support”, said Claudio di Giovanni, Technical Director, Solving Team.
“Enterprises, public sector agencies, and solution development partners who are adopting DevOps, Kubernetes, and Cloud Native architectures, who are concerned about business resilience and staying competitive with the increasing demands from market shifts, should actively review the use of composable applications.”, said Paul Hinz, Entando CEO, “Entando is committed to helping developers, customers, and our partner community adopt composability. Entando 7 is an important milestone in the development of the core capabilities required for business resiliency.”
